Bernard was a veteran of World War II, serving the the U. S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Read-Osborne Post #531 in Copemish, Michigan. He had also served in the Civilian Conservation Corp.
He retired from Buick Motor Company Plant 12 in Flint, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge F. & A.M. in Flint. He enjoyed many activities, especially going to the Senior Citizen Day on Tuesdays at Nancy's Restaurant in Honor.
The Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva, Manistee County, Michigan was in charge of arrangements.
