Samuel was inducted into the Army in Lincoln Co., Washington on 2 November 1917. He served as a Saddler Mch. He served overseas from July 6, 1918 until April 16, 1919. He served in the 166 Dep Brigade to January 8, 1918 and then in the 316 Engineers until he was discharged.
