Mrs. Doris Ganice Clayton Parker, age 90, of Adairsville, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at Floyd Medical Center, Rome.
She was born in Calhoun, GA, November 24, 1926 daughter of the late William Oscar Clayton and Beulah Van Dora Fowler Clayton. Mrs. Parker was a member of Stoner Chapel Baptist Church. During the war effort, she was a member of Rosie the Riveters and worked at Bell Bomber in Marietta where she worked on the assembly line. Mrs. Parker also worked at Kuhlmans in Adairsville for many years. She was a homemaker, wife, mother, and role model for many. She and her husband Harold’s home provided food, shelter, and love for many. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Harold Parker; grandson, Sammy H. Parker, Jr.; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Sammy H. Parker, Sr. and Scotty G. Parker, both of Adairsville; a great granddaughter, Kaeleigh Parker; 2 special nephews – Lewis House and Bobbie House; and special friend, Bobby Decker. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 12, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. Rickey Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Oothcalooga Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Josh Young, Blake Young, Lewis House, Bobby Decker, Larry Pratt, and Larry Mathis.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
