corner of the province, seeking a better life. From there they moved to nearby Wardner.

LONG-TIME RESIDENT PETER KEYANDWY PASSES (PICTURE)

The community and surrounding district was saddened on Friday morning, September 26th to hear of the sudden death at his home of Mr. Peter Keyandwy, age 78 years, one of Wardner's old timers.

Born at Saint Ignace, Mackinac County, Michigan in 1880, Mr. Keyandwy married the former Winnifred McLeod in 1910 and moved to Alberta from Michigan in 1917. In 1924 Mr. and Mrs. Keyandwy moved to East Kootenay and settled in Jaffray, a short time later moving to Wardner where they have made their home since.

Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Josetta Anderson of Wardner and one son, Alex, of Alabama, 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Joseph of San Francisco and four sisters, Mary in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, Lenore in St. Ignace, Michigan, Marguerite in Oakland, California, and Retta in Marquette, Marquette County, Michigan

Funeral services for the late Mr. Keyandwy were held on Monday from the Wardner United Church with Rev. Bryan Colwell of Cranbrook officiating. Interment followed in the Wardner cemetery.
