Daughter of Mehala Music Thomas.

Meelian Tanner Thomas has a CSA widow's pension on line in the Georgia Archives virtual vault. She says she married W. M. Tanner in Sept 1866. He enlisted in 1861 with Company F of the 26th GA regiment. He surrendered at Appomattox , VA. He died on Aug. 27, 1903. There is also a letter from her sister-in-law saying she was Amelia Thomas now, but had been married to W.M. Tanner. Proof of Meelian Thomas' death on Feb. 22, 1926 is also included in the paperwork. Since she signed with a mark, I am sure the ordinary spelled her name the way it sounded.
