Beach Lake, PA - Lucy J. Branning of RD 1, Beach Lake, a lifelong area resident died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 11 at Wesley Village Pittston, PA. She was 97. The daughter of the late William P. and Mary Jane Box Downing, she was born November 23, 1888, in Honesdale. She was the widow of Grover Branning. Mrs. Branning was a member of the Beach Lake United Methodist Church and the Women's Society for Christian Service of the church. She was also an honorary member of the Administrative Board of the church, a member of the Welcome Lake Ladies aid Society; and a mesmber of the Delaware Valley Grange No. 1564. Survivors include one son, Allen Branning of Beach Lake, three daughters Evelyn Budd of Schwenksville, and Marsena Tompkins and Alice Drushchen both of Yorktown Heights, NY; one brother Rex Downing of Yorktown Heights; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at the Beach Lake United Methodist Church. The Rev. Daniel Ling officiated. Burial was in Indian Orchard Cemetery, Indian Orchard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beach Lake United Methodist Church, Beach Lake.
