There seems to be disagreement as to whether Easter is the first name or middle name. In an interview with Pauline in 2006, she told me that Easter was her first name. In the 1920 US Census she is listed as Easter Pauline. Clearly, throughout her life Pauline preferred to be called Pauline. There are many examples of my Arkansas and KY ancestors who only went by their middle name. It was a surprise to find out the first name as in many cases, no one ever used it.

Thanks to Rev. Jaynendal Vincent for providing the following obituary:

Pauline Easter Carmon, 99, of Paragould, died Friday, June 20, 2014, at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

A retired bookkeeper, she was born September 19, 1914, in Paragould, and was a graduate of Paragould Schools and of Mrs. Burnette's School of Business, Blytheville. She served as a board member of Greene Acres Nursing Home for seventeen years.

She was married August 26, 1933 to Dennis Carmon and he preceded her in death in 1995. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph and Jannie (Wylie) Shannon; three brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include her cousin, Helen Decker; a sister-in-law, Pauline Shannon; and a special niece, Linda Taylor, all of Paragould; one nephew, Jerry Garland Shannon of Washington; and four nieces, Jannie Parraco, Tina Hughes, Gina McGuire, all of Nevada, and Paulett Young of Arizona. Gravesite Details

The original Find-A-Graver who created this memorial, made it long before Pauline passed on. The difficulty is that the marker had her name, but no dod. It would be best to verify that a person has actually passed on before creating the memorial.
