Allan Abrams, 70, Prairie Village, KS, passed away Friday, October 2, 2009 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 6, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. Burial at Sheffield Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to Brit Tzedek v' Shalom, www.btvshalom.org, The American Jewish Committee, www.ajc.org, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Allan was a native of Kansas City, KS. His career as a tax attorney, investment advisor, and professional arbitrator/mediator took him to Washington, D.C., New York City, and San Francisco, amongst other cities in the U.S. and Europe. He returned to the Kansas City area in 1974. Allan earned his Masters of Laws from New York University, and his Juris Doctorate from The University of Missouri–Kansas City. He earned his Masters in International Relations from Georgetown/American Universities and his Bachelors in History and Political Science from the University of Michigan. He received post graduate training at Harvard University and the University of California – Berkeley. He has lectured and published nationally, primarily on the Middle East peace process. Allan spent much of his life in the non-profit sector, most recently as an active national board member of Brit Tzedek v' Shalom, The Jewish Alliance for Justice and Peace, whose mission is to bring peace to Israel. Earlier Allan served as National Trustee for the National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ), as a long-term member of its Kansas City chapter, as a chairperson of the Christian-Jewish-Muslim Dialog Group of Greater Kansas City, principle advisor to Kansas City's Minority Museum, as president of the Kansas City chapter of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), on its International Relations Commission in Washington, D.C. and as co-founder of the Greater Kansas City Diversity Coalition (KCDC). Allan was an art collector and jazz aficionado and loved the theater.

He is survived by daughters: Ali Abrams, Lawrence, KS; Amy Abrams, Minneapolis, MN; sister, Anita Mandelbaum, Boulder, CO; special friend, Gail L. Geiger, Madison, WI; and his beloved dog, Reggie.
