Mellie B. DOWDEN, 75, resident of the Deer's Mill neighborhood most of her life, died Monday night in Robert Long Hospital, Indianapolis where she had been a patient a week. Born Sept 28, 1883, Mrs. Dowden was the daughter of William Butcher and Clara Burk Butcher. She married (Pat) Walter R. Dowden Nov 5, 1905. Mrs. Dowden was a member of the Waveland Baptist Church. She had lived in Bloomingdale community since March 1958. Surviving are the husband; a grandson, Gordon Keith Henry; a great grandson and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the McCloud Funeral Home, Crawfordsville with burial at Freedom Cemetery.
