Fred Abbott, 81, died Wednesday at a hospital in St. Joseph.
A native of Union Star, MO., Mr. Abbott was a retired farmer. He moved here in 1971.
Mr. Abbott was a veteran of WWI. He was a 58 year member of the American Legion post no. 132 and the First Baptist church here.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alberta Abbott of the home; one son, Verlin M. Abbott, Baldwin, MO.; one brother, Lee Abbott of Hamilton, MO.; one sister, Mrs. Viola Martin, Maryville, MO., and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 pm Saturday at the Clark chapel here. The Rev. Lester Sander and the Rev. Jess Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in King City cemetery.
