Abretske, Carolyn Theresa
passed away in her sleep with family by her bedside in the early morning hours of October 2nd, 2009 in Peoria, Arizona; she was 72 years old. Carolyn was born on December 8th, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania but lived most of her years in the Metropolitan area of Phoenix, Arizona where she settled down with her husband and raised her four children. Carolyn was a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service for many years and thoroughly enjoyed the enormous family gatherings at Christmas, Thanksgiving and Independence Day as well as attending sporting events featuring her grandchildren. Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, John Leon Abretske, a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Major in the US Army, on February 12th, 1983 and her two brothers, William and Chuck Lowe. She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Gibson and Michelle (William) Sanders, as well as her two sons, John (Charleane) Abretske and Michael (Michelle) Abretske. Also carrying on Carolyn's legacy are her brother, Jim Lowe, her Sister, Beatrice Kidd, as well as her eight grandchildren, Carolyn, Charlie, Alexandra, Lindsey, Corey, Mary-Katherine, Dakotah and Morgan - all of whom loved her very much and had the luxury of spending time with their Grandmother just prior to her passing. An open Viewing will be held for those to pay their final respects at the Heritage Funeral Chapel at 6830 W. Thunderbird Rd. in Peoria, Arizona on Monday, October 5 from 5-7pm, with Services at 7pm. Carolyn will find her final resting place next to her husband at the National Memorial Cemetery at 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. in Phoenix, Arizona; no open Services will be held at the cemetery.
