Bessie L. Mackey, age 99, of Corbin, passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 23, 2006, at Williamsburg Nursing Home.

She was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late W.B. and Smanthia Brown Johnson. In 1928 on Christmas Day, Bessie wed the late Jasper Mackey. They were married for 78 years. To that union, three children were born, who survive her — two daughters, Clarice Mackey Logan and husband Russell Logan of Corbin, and Sadie Mackey Smith and husband Jack R. Smith of Rockholds; and one son, Arvalee Mackey and wife Billie Hood Mackey of Hamilton, Ohio.

Other survivors include eight grandchildren, David Logan, Timothy Logan, Michael Smith, Robin Haines, Thomas Smith, Jasper Douglas Smith, Debbie Scales and Vickey Rennick; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She leaves behind one brother, Johnny Johnson of Michigan, and other family members and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the Hart Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Jimmy Siler and Bro. Keith Decker officiating. Burial will follow at Mackey Cemetery on Flat Creek Road at Rockholds.

Pallbearers will be David Logan, Mike Smith, Tim Logan, Tom Smith, Matthew Logan, Jasper Douglas Smith and Steven Rennick.

The family of Bessie L. Mackey will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday, Dec. 27 at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master St., Corbin.
