Donald Wayne Lewellen, 87, entered into his presence on April 23, 2005. Born April 27, 1917, Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Anne, a constant and caring companion to "Mr. Lew", and his daughters and daughter-in-law, Suzie Schmidly of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Sally Purdy of Fort Worth, Texas and Trisha Lewellen of Tulsa, and his sons and sons-in-law, Mike Lewellen of Houston, Texas, Mark Lewellen of Tulsa, Charles Schmidly of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Frank Purdy of Fort Worth, Texas. Other family members include ten grandchildren (Cami, Shannon, Kirsten, Jason, Chad, Lindsay, Jared, Kyndal, Justin and Kennedy) and ten great-grandchildren (Parker, Graves, Emerson, Connor, Sydney, Henri, Ellis, and 'Eli, Ike and Max').

Wayne was an all-state halfback/ punter for the Bristow Purple Pirates and letterman on the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a founding elder of Beams of Light Tabernacle of Tulsa and a Meals on Wheels volunteer.

He married his first love and mother of his children, Genevieve Shibley, in 1940. She preceded him in death in 1956. A retired businessman, Wayne was an avid sports viewer who enjoyed gardening, his home, reading and "telling a good story". His family will miss this unassuming gentleman with an easy smile and dry sense of humor.

A service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 11 AM at Southeast Baptist Church, 1402 South Memorial Drive, Tulsa, 74112.

In lieu of flowers, family and friends may contribute to Southeast Baptist Church or Family and Children's Services, 650 South Peoria Avenue, Tulsa, 74120. The family entrusted services to Moore's Eastlawn Chapel, (918)622-1155, www.moorefuneral.com.
