Mrs. Eliza Millsaps Buie, who had been a resident of this city for more than 20 years past, departed this life on Monday at 11 p. m., after nearly three weeks of suffering from a severe stroke of paralysis. Mrs. Buie was a sister of Maj. R. W. Millsaps, of Jackson, and also leaves two sisters, Mesdames Bowen and Johnson. Five children, four daughters and one son, are bereft by the death of their devoted and consecrated Christian mother.
Friends, who knew and loved this worthy woman, clasp hands with them in their grief and feel a common sorrow.
The funeral took place yesterday at
4:30 p. m. from the Methodist church, of which the deceased was a loyal member.
A most appropriate and tender sermon was preached by the pastor, Rev. C. W. Crisler, and prayer was offered by Rev. J. A. Bowen, after which the casket, laden with the sweetest flowers of the spring time, was borne to its last resting place.
The pall bearers were Messrs. Chas. Heuck, Harry .Tibbs, P. Z. Jones, L. H. Baggett, J. B. Hughes and B. T. Hobbs.
Maj. R. W. Millsaps and wife and Mr. and Mrs. Z. D. Davis, of Jackson, Mrs. Fannie Millsaps and Mrs. Chas.
Butterfield, of Norfield, and other relatives attended the obsequies.
