Donald Eugene Brownfield Jr. died June 12 at his home in Le Roy.

He was born March 27, 1927, in Ottawa to Don E. and Bertha Brownfield. He moved with his parents to Le Roy when he was 12. After being graduated from Le Roy High School, he joined the U.S. Marines.

He attended Washburn University, Topeka, where he met and married Lauree Gardner. They made their home in Kansas City before they moved to Le Roy. In the last few years, Brownfield was employed at the Wolf Creek Plant near Burlington until ill health forced his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Lauree; a daughter, Donna of Iola; son Dean, Colwich; his mother; a brother, Darrell Brownfield; two sisters, Judy Sedlacek, Sea Brook, Texas and Ramona Brewer, Wichita; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted June 14. Interment was in Lorenz Schlichter Cemetery, rural Le Roy.

A memorial has been established with the School of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, Mo.
