Civil War Veteran.
When a young man he served as a volunterr with 200 boys from Blackjack, MO. for three years in the civil war under the command of Gen. Franz Siegel. Born in Westphalia Germany. He came to America with his parents when 4 or 5 years of age.
In 1867 he was married to a Miss Sanders of Jarvis township.
She died two years later. About 1870 he married Miss Louise Tiemann and following her death contracted a third marriage with Miss Eliza Kloeppel.
