William was a cordwainer (shoemaker). He came to the U.S. with his wife and three oldest children.
NARA film series M334, #90 shows his family on index cards. They arrived 10/1/1830, port of entry Baltimore, listing W. Keller, age 38, shoemaker. His naturalization papers filed April 7, 1844 in York County referred to "Grand Duke of Hesse Darmstadt." The 1860 census says he was born in Hessin Kassel.
In addition to the sons shown below, there were three girls. Caroline, b. 1821 in Germany, Catherine b. 1830 in Germany, and Maria b. 1832 in York Co.
York Co. records show a Catherine Keller married a William Shenbarger/Shenberger 11/22/1866 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of York. Unknown if this is the same Catherine.
Shrewsbury Cemetery records show a Caroline Keller 3/16/1821-10/7/1884 who is assumed to be his daughter but not yet proven. She was still single, and with the family of her sister-in-law, Louisa Keller "Kerchner" in 1880 census. Kerchner should be Cashner.
