Earl Walker Ashcraft, 85, of Sanger passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 in Sanger. He was born Jan. 22, 1923 in Denton County to Joe Howard Ashcraft and Nannie Atchison Ashcraft. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Gribble Springs Baptist Church. He married Lorene S. Dodd on July 26, 1952 in Sanger. She preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 2002. Later he married Etha Nell Burns Dotson on Sept. 5, 2004. She preceded him in death on June 22, 2007.

Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be Monday, Dec. 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Gribble Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Gribble Springs Cemetery.

He is survived by sister, Faye Spindle of Sanger; special nephew, Danny Spindle of Sanger; step-son, Don Tutt of Thackerville, Okla.; and six grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wives, sister, Flora Mae Christian, brothers, Martin, Alford, L.H. and Joe Dale Ashcraft.

Memorials may be made to Gribble Springs Baptist Church or American Hospice.
