Edwin J. Wentz

Edwin J. Wentz, 88, of South Fulton Street, Strasburg, died Wednesday, September 23, 2009. He was the husband of Emma (Heckel) Wentz for over 59 years.

Lovingly known as 'Doc,' he had worked for the former Hamilton Watch Company then Armstrong World Industries and retired from the former Kerr Glass Company.

He was a member of Lampeter Church of the Brethren. Doc also belonged to the Strasburg Sportsman's Association and the Green Valley Mills Club. He was an associate member of the Red Rose Hunting Club and enjoyed cooking for the club.

Born in Roaring Springs, Blair County, he was the son of the late Lester and Blanche Wentz. Ed is also survived by two daughters, Carol married to Fred Herr of Willow Street, Arlene married to Brian Cain of Strasburg and a son, Rick married to Holly Wentz of Strasburg, eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a step great-grandson, a sister and six brothers including a twin brother.

VIEWINGS: Sunday, September 27 from 6 until 8 PM in the Bachman Funeral Home, 7 South Decatur Street, Strasburg, PA, and Monday, September 28 from 10 until 11 AM in the funeral home. FUNERAL: Monday, September 28 at 11 AM from the funeral home with Pastor John Hostetter officiating. Interment in Longeneckers Reformed Mennonite Cemetery.
