Services for Minnie Ellen Woody of Caruthersville were held June 24 in the Temple Baptist Church in Caruthersville with the Rev. Paul Murrell and Doug Clinton officiating. Mrs. Woody died in the Caruthersville Manor June 22, 1982, at the age of 81.
She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gus Mausey and was born in Equality, Ill., Feb. 2, 1901. She moved with her family to Caruthersville in 1911. Mrs. Woody married W.D. Collier in 1918, but he died the following year and she remarried in 1922 to John Ghyers. He died in 1936 and she remarried in 1945 in Blytheville to Vester Woody. He died in 1965. Mrs. Woody was also preceded in death by a son, Wilbur D. Collier, in 1962.
She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, John Ghyers Jr. of Huntington, Tenn., Robert Ghyers of Santee, Calif., and Jimmy Ghyers of McKinzie, Tenn.; two daughters, Mrs. Golden Rash and Mrs. Ann Green of Caruthersville; two brothers, Rass Mausey of Caruthersville and George Mausey of Bernie; and 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Her grandsons served as pallbearers. Interment was in the Little Prairie Cemetery with the H.S. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
