Moody Franklin White, 67, long-time resident of Pemiscot County, died Tuesday, January 15, at Veterans Hospital in Poplar Bluff and funeral services are to be held this (Friday) afternoon at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Floyd V. Brower officiating. Burial will be in Maple cemetery.
Mr. White was born at West Station, Miss., February 2, 1889, the son of Samuel and Mollie White. When he was a small boy the family moved to Pemiscot county and he attended the Steele rural schools.
On July 25, 1918, at Caruthersville, he was inducted into the U.S. Army serving until January 30, 1919 when he received his discharge at Camp Funston,Kas.
On February 13, 1925, at Lexington, Miss., he was married to Miss Annie A. McLellan and the family lived near Braggdocio where he engaged in farming. After his retirement a few years ago they moved to Caruthersville.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie A. White of this city; three sons, Doyle M. White and Robert S. White of Memphis and Joe M. White, in the Navy and stationed at Pearl Harbor; one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Weddington of this city; a brother, L.C. White of Hayti; two sisters, Mrs. Belle Allison of Columbus, Ohio and Mrs. Lillie Curtner of Braggadocio; and one grandson, Doyle M. White Jr.
