John T. Roller, long time resident of Visalia ended his earthly journey Sept. 18, 2009. He was born in Hanford, Ca. Aug. 13, 1927, attended schools in Visalia graduating from Visalia Union High School in 1945, after which he joined the Navy. He served on the USS Smith and USS Earle until the end of WWII. Coming home John married Illene Ridgeley, went to work for Standard Oil at Tegas Ranch and soon opened his own Chevron Service Station at Oak & Court streets in Visalia. In 1971 he closed his service station and went to work as service manager at Struble's Auto Center.. After retiring John worked at Midtown News until it was sold. His last two years were spent in Hanford thereby completing his Circle of Life. John is survived by his two sons John L and Terry D. his granddaughter Rhana R. and his brother George Roller in Washington. John's remains will be interred at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella as per his final requests. The family is planning a Celebration of Life Oct. 17th.
