Sasha Bruce is forever memorialized by the Sasha Bruce Youthwork organization. It is one of the largest providers of services to youth in the District of Columbia. In 1977 her mother, Evangeline Bell Bruce, donated funds to start a youth shelter in memory of her daughter who died at the age of 29 in 1975.

Sasha graduated with a magna cum laude in art history from Radcliffe. After graduation she moved to London where she met her future husband, Marios Michaelides, a Greek businessman. They married in the summer of 1975. Sasha and her husband lived at the family estate, Staunton Hill, 293 acres outside Brookneal, Virginia. Her father had sold the estate to her and her siblings for a fraction of its value.

Three months after her wedding she was found unconscious under a tree by the swimming pool. She was bleeding from her right temple and a pistol was found beneath her. Her death was ruled a suicide. She was buried in her wedding dress.

Her husband returned to Greece after Sasha's death. In 1978 a Charlotte County grand jury indicted him on a charge of murder. He has never been extradited.

In 1982 a book about her, Privilege: The Enigma of Sasha Bruce was written by Joan Mellen.
