Born Dec. 9, 1914, in Princeville to Ernest and Etta Strong Colwell, he married Jessie Allington on Nov. 3, 1950, in Chillicothe. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Gayle Colwell of Princeton; one sister, Irma Renini of Magnolia; seven grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was a union carpenter before retiring.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Chillicothe.
He also was a member of George Washington Masonic Lodge 222 and the Mohammed Temple, Shrine, in Peoria.
He was a former member of Pearce Community Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Keith Ferguson will officiate. Burial will be in Chillicothe City Cemetery.
