J.W. Campbell Jr. passed away at his
home in Kansas City on Tuesday,
December 23, 1902 at the age of
34 years, 7 months and 6 days.
Mr. Campbell's remains were
brought to the home of his parents
Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Campbell Sr. in
Frankfort, Kansas yesterday, and
funeral services were held at 2:00
p.m.
Mr. Campbell was a bridge builder
who had been afflicted with loco-
motor ataxia for three years, and
had been unable to work during that
time. There was no physician to
sign the death certificate because
he would not allow a doctor to go
near him, and would not take any
medicine. When his wife saw that
his life was in danger she pleaded
with hie to call a physician, but he
waved her away. It was thought
that the disease was at first induced
by a fall from a bridge several years
ago in which his spine was injured.
