OBITUARY - MR CLARENCE ALOIS BALL
The entire district is sad in the knowledge that Mr Clarence Alois Ball, known to all as "Toby", passed away on Wednesday morning, and the greatest sympathy is extended to his bereaved family. He was a son of Mr and Mrs. J. Ball, of Pongakawa, being born 41 years ago and was one of four boys and a girl comprising this greatly esteemed family or district pioneers.
He leaves a wife and two children whose loss is the greater in that the children are of an age at which they were pals rather than a father and his children.
Mr Ball was a lovable character, open hearted and friendly to all and his cheerful company will be missed by a large circle of close friends. He was educated at Paengaroa and King's College and his first grown up interest was with the Farmers' Auctioneering Co. However, he went farming and shortly before his death changed over to sheep.
A service was held in the Presbyterian Church yesterday, the Rev. A. H. Norrie officiating most impressively, the church and confines being packed. A very long cortage travelled to the cemetery where last respects were paid, there being mountains of floral emblems. TE PUKE TIMES, VOLUME XXXV, ISSUE 52, 12 JULY 1946, PAGE 2
