Mrs. Henry Ebert died at her home three and a half miles west of Elliot, Iowa, on September 20, 1894, in her 35th year. Mrs. Ebert's maiden name was Rhoda Stanton. She was born near Rockford, Illinois, February 9, 1860, the daughter of Jonathan and Lucy Stanton. In 1873 she came with her parents to Montgomery County, Iowa, where with one brief exception, she has since lived. In 1879 she was married to Mr. Henry Ebert, who is widely known and respected in this region. Her funeral was held Saturday, September 22, 1894, at Center Ridge United Presbyterian Church west of the home place. The services were conducted by Rev. F. C. Lewis, pastor of the Congregational Church at Elliot. Interment was in the center Ridge Church Cemetery. The attendance was very large, being proof of the high regard in which those who knew her held her. Besides her husband, Henry, she leaves three children, Ellen, Mary, and Harlan. Seven years ago she became a member of the Evangelical Church at Rose Hill. She will be greatly missed in the home and the community.
