Issac Bonine was born March 3rd, 1811, in eastern Tennessee, and died in Jewell City, Kansas, at the ripe age of 94 years, 5 months and 1 day.
Feb. 26, 1830 he was united in marriage with Malinda Elliot, who preceded him to the eternal home in 1865. He married a second time and this wife also left him to go a little farther alone.
He was the father of eleven children, four of whom are dead; six daughters and one son survive him.
He was converted and united with the M. E. Church in 1833, and for many years was an active member of that church. Moving to southern Missouri, he united with the Christian Church. He was an elder in that church, of which he remained a member until the time of his death.
His last years were spent in Kansas and the latter of them in Jewell City. He was an active Christian, faithful in service, fearing God, and until on-creeping age rendered him incapable, was always at his post of duty.
The funeral services were held at the Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. F. N. Willis on Saturday afternoon, it being Mr. Willis' last public service in Jewell. Three of Mr. Bonine's daughters reside here. They are Mrs. M. M. Schooner, Mrs. Lorana Wagner, and Mrs. Lydia Alderson. The first named not present, she being in the state of Washington on a visit to her daughter. The interment was made in the west cemetery.
