JOHN LOWRY, JR. was a farmer and woolgrower. When he reached the age of 15 he engaged for several years in hauling produce to the mining camps of Utah and Nevada, and then took up160 acres of land south of Manti, where he raised mostly hay and kept from40 to 50 head of stock. He was also interested in wool growing with his brother, William B., and they owned over 3000 head of sheep. He was also a stockholder in the Central Utah Wool Co., the Messenger Printing Co., president of the North Six-Mile Creek Irrigation Co., and secretary and treasurer of the Pioneer Water Co. He was a policeman for about fourteen years. City Marshal a number of years and Constable.

He built a nice residence in town. Mr. Lowry was one of the substantial men of Manti and an honor-able and upright citizen. He married March 13, 1870, Heneretta, daughter of William and Henrietta Anderson, who was also born in Manti, September 12, 1855.
