Former Fairbanks resident Kenneth Adrian Lorz, 76, went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2005. He passed away in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Ken was born July 30, 1928, in Tonasket, Wash., the son of Jean Laurie and Cornelius Lorz.
His daughters said, "We girls often felt as if our dad was a member of the military service. He moved us from Washington to Idaho, back to Washington and then on to Alaska in 1970, as if wings were hooked to his shoes. He had a love for travel and needed to keep moving until he found his most-loved place. He was a great man who was loved by many."
His profession was heating and sheet metal. His passions were hunting and fishing. Above all, he held his family the highest. He loved to sit around the table with his cup of coffee and share life experiences with friends and family. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, the world stopped to listen.
He found his most-loved place when he moved to Costa Rica in 1993. People who visited could see the joy in his eyes knowing he was in his element. He was definitely living in the surroundings he had longed for those many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Laurie and Cornelius Lorz; brothers, Norbert and Jerry Lorz; and sisters, Helen McDaniel and Margaret Yarnell.
Ken is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lucy Ursula Lorz; daughters and sons-in-law, Delores "Dodie" and Richard Sanders, Beverly Lorz-Smith and Marlon Smith, Barbara Lorz-Wammack and Bruce Wammack and Sherry and Richard Argo; brothers, Bob Lorz, Lester Lorz and Jack Lorz; sister, Eleanor Scott; and many nieces and nephews.
The family rejoiced and celebrated his life on April 13 in San Jose, Costa Rica, with a brief service for blessing his life.
