Mrs. Lura Mae Chaffin, 58, died at her home on East Fourteenth street at nine o'clock Sunday morning, February 1, after a long illness. She was born June 19, 1899, at Martin, Tenn., the daughter of Wm. E. and Betty Baldridge, moving to this city in 1903. She had long been a member of the Methodist church and was an active and faithful worker in the local church until her health failed a few years ago.
On December 25, 1907, she was married to John H. Chaffin and three sons were born to the union, Wm. E. and John H. Chaffin both of Caruthersville and Fred H. Chaffin of Hayti.
Funeral services were held at the church Monday afternoon with the Rev. Floyd V. Brower conducting the rites. Interment was in Little Prairie cemetery with LaForge Undertaking Company in charge of arrangements.
In addition to her husband and sons, Mrs. Chaffin is survived by three grandsons, Sidney, Richard and Michael Chaffin; two sisters, Mrs. Tom Harris of Blytheville, Ark. and Mrs. Maude Edwards of Texarkana, Texas; and one brother, Harve Baldridge of Blytheville.
