He was born August 23, 1933 in Alston, Michigan, son of Walter and Amelia Kero. He attended the Alston and Baraga Schools and served in the Korean War.
On July 27, 1957 he married the former Dorothy Bessen of Ontonagon. He worked for Gundlach Construction and 25 years at the White Pine Copper Co., retiring early due to ill health.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; one son Brian of Highland, Michigan; four daughters, Brenda (Jim) Sullivan of Nisula, Barbara (Randy) Velmer of Alston, Bonnie (Jim) Spitz of Warren, Michigan and Becky (Roger) Stewart of Columbia, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; two brothers Brynolf of Alston and Wilbur of Laurium; nine sisters, Edna Rautiola and Elvie Rautiola of Hancock, Viola Heikkinen of Nisula, Ruth Rabbitt of Battle Creek, Lillian Ruokonen of Howell, Michigan, Lois Kero of Westland, Michigan, Alice Koski of Westland, Michigan, Karen Strand of Milford, Michigan and Agnes Kontala of South Lyon, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Arthur and two sisters, Dorothy and Edna.
The Cane Funeral Home, Ontonagon, opened Sunday evening for visitation.
Funeral services for Ralph Kero were held Monday, July 11, 1994 at the funeral home, Rev. Michael Laakko officiating.
Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon.
