Duron was the son of Katherine Gladys "Kate" Norman and Evert Ivo "Buck" Phillips. In 1936 he married Oma Dee Northcott, daughter of Richard Otis Northcott and Georgia Oma Shahan of Lamesa. Cotton and Oma Dee were married for 69 years. He is survived by his son, Dennis Martin Phillips and his wife, Diane, and son, Buck, of Pleasantville, New York. His daughter, Mary Duronell Phillips married Charles Arlin Warren, son of R. C. "Dink" and Jewel Campbell Warren of Lamesa. Charles and Duronell had three children: Kelli Belinda, Jody Phil and Jon Mark Warren. Charles has farming and ginning operations in the Lamesa area.
Kelli Belinda Warren married Mark Madison Matlock, son Doyle and Bobbie Ruth Napper Matlock of Lamesa. Kelli and Mark have three children, Keith Ronald, Morgan Renne and Charles Tyler Matlock.
Jody Phil Warren, 1960-2001, preceded W.D. in death. Jody married Teresa Jean Anderson, daughter of Gene and Margie Anderson of Lamesa. He and Teresa had two daughters, Sandra Leigh, who is deceased, and Alexis Jene' Warren.
Jon Mark Warren married Meggan Lynn Byrd, daughter of Roy and Marylyn Cox Byrd of Lamesa. Jon and his wife Meggan have three children, Jake Evan, Heath Michael and Audrey Claire Warren. Jon graduated from A&M University in College Station, Texas and went on to graduate from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas with a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages. He is pastor of Grace Point Church in Portland, Texas. Jake is serving in the United States Coast Guard in Ketchikan, Alaska. He married Sasha Talley of Corpus Christi, Texas in 2012. Heath graduated from Gregory Portland high school in May of 2015 and is going to college in the fall. Audrey will be a freshman at Gregory Portland High school.
Keith and his wife Melissa Young Horn of Dallas, Texas, have two daughters, Madison Claire and Macy Jewel Matlock. They live in Lamesa. Morgan married Heath Hightower of Lamesa and they have two children, Dawson Laine and Warren Neal Hightower. Morgan was Miss Texas in 2005 and was a finalist at Miss America that year. They are living in Houston, Texas, where Heath is a financial executive. Heath is the son of Dan and Judy Chastain Hightower of Lamesa. Charles Tyler is unmarried at this time and attending Texas Tech University in San Angelo, Texas, and working for Matlock and Associates in San Angelo.
Jody's daughter, Lexi, married Joshua Aldan Bell of Plains, Texas. They have two daughters, Lana Brooke and Libby Leigh and one son, Jordy Aldan Bell. Lexi and Josh graduated from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. They live in Plains where Josh is engaged in farming.
Cotton (W. D.) was a retired farmer and had a car dealership business in his later years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lamesa for 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buck and Kate Phillips and a brothers Earl Pawnee Phillips and Norman Phillips of Lamesa.
