James Casmey, 81, Crookston, died Monday, June 30, 1997 in Riverview Hospital, Crookston.
James Richard Casmey was born Nov. 7, 1915, the son of Thomas and Beatrice (Teal) Casmey, in Crookston, where he grew up and attended school. He worked at Duval's Meat Market and Erickson's Meat Market in Crookston. He married Donna Coss on Oct. 24, 1935. He joined the U.S. Navy in June 1945, being stationed in California. In April 1946, be returned to Crookston, where he worked as a truck driver for Dr. Pepper Distributing Co. and Olson Distributing Co. He later worked at Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store in Crookston as a meat cutter. He worked in sales and drove truck for Grain Belt Distributing Co, in Crookston. He retired in 1972, but continued to work as a farmer. Donna Casmey died April 16, 1992.

He is survived by a son, Richard Dick (JoAnn), Winona, Minn.; a daughter, Mary (Bill) Oehlke, Devils Lake; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lewetta Moen, Park River, N.D.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Elroy; and a sister, Florence Ralston.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday in Wesley United Methodist Church, Crookston.
Visitation: 4 to, 7, p.m. today in Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston.
