Sara Kaster was born to Jack and Carrie Kaster on Dec. 24, 1904, in Hawthorn, Pa. Her father, the son of a lumber mill owner, made a name for himself as a roller coaster designer for the McKay Construction Co.
About 1910, Jack Kaster was hired to design a coaster at Silver Lake Park in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio, a 600-acre resort once nicknamed "The Coney Island of the West." When the job was complete, park managers persuaded Jack Kaster to stick around and look after his new thrill ride. He managed the Silver Lake coaster while his wife cooked meals for park employees. He moved his family into a little cottage near the resort.

Sara wasn't yet 14 when she started working at Summit Beach Park in Akron Ohio. It was May 1918 and the United States was fighting in World War I. She attended Crawford Elementary School and Cuyahoga Falls East School, spent at least three summers working at the park. But then the time finally came to go. Around age 17, she quit the resort to work full time at Eclat Rubber on Front Street in the Falls. Just like a roller coaster, life took several twists and turns.
In 1923, she married Francis C. Adams, whose father worked at Eclat as a firefighter. The couple had four children. When her husband died in 1940, she had to support the children on her own.
She worked at Firestone during World War II and then accepted a job at Lea Drugs, where she remained a fixture until retiring in 1969. She married her second husband, John Wohlford, in 1947.
Tragedy struck again in April 1948 when her father suffered a fatal plunge from a roller coaster at Summit Beach. Jack Kaster was inspecting the ride before the season opened in two days. The 72-year-old lost his footing and fell 35 feet to the ground. He died one day later.

Following the death of her second husband in 1985, she moved to Mogadore to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

She passed away on August 15, 2008, she was 103 years 8 months old. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her three brothers Marion, Blair and Edward and her two sisters Josephine and Bernice. Her youngest daughter Dorothy and two son's in law.
