Married Opal Barnes December 30, 1953.
He was a member of the Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church and a farmer. He worked for Keith Smith Company for 21 years and a former agriculture teacher at Lake Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survived by his wife of 55 years, Opal Parker; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Joy Parker, Donny and Sarah Parker; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Bruce Cozart; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Claudine Parker; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be September 29, 2009 in the Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Joe Bob Smith and Bro. Herbert Watts officiating.
Interment will be in Fourche Loupe Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and granddaughters, Brett Parker, Jeff Parker, Derek Parker, Trevor Cozart, William Parker, Cody Cozart, Shawna Vaughan, and Dana Curtis.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Lakeside High School Class of 1947, the Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church, Garland County Farm Bureau, Herschel Barnes, Roger Hathcock, Gerald Huxtable, Sarah Hale, Richard Plugge, Tom Jones and Phillip and Naomi Jones.
