CHARLES E. DAVIS, FORMER NEWSPAPER EMPLOYEE, EXPIRES
Charles E. Davis, 77, former circulation manager of The Journal Review, who also was engaged in the barbering business for several years died Friday morning at the Bever Nursing Home. He had been in failing health the past year and seriously ill one week.
Born March 21, 1876, at the family home, southwest of here, Mr. Davis was the son of Warren and Margaret Smith Davis. He married Flora Hays January 8, 1896, at the old Otterbein Church. He was a member of the Yountsville Methodist church.
Mr. Davis, who lived southwest of Yountsville, was the last of a family of 13 children.
Surviving are two sons, Raymond R. Davis, Yountsville, a Journal Review employee, and Edgar Davis, South Whitley, Ind., three daughters, Mrs. H. Miller Johnson, Cleveland, O., Mrs. Jay E. Mitchell, Anderson, and Miss Daye Delight Davis, at home, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Warren W. Davis, World War I veteran, who died shortly after returning from the service.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Proffitt & Sons Funeral Home with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Charles McBrayer of Waveland will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday.
