Former Wilbur resident, Ellen C (Angstrom) Hume, 95, passed away May 3, 2001 in Spokane, Her home was in Spokane. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 11, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Strate Funeral Home in Wilbur, with a gathering to follow at Community Presbyterian Church. Strate Funeral Home of Wilbur is in charge of arrangements. Mrs Hume was born in Wilbur. She married Albert Angstrom in 1923 and George Hume in 1959. Albert preceded her in death in 1930, and George in 1975. She worked for Holmes Brothers Cash Store. She was a member of Wilbur Rebekah Lodge and volunteered at the Wilbur Senior Center. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, gardening, and sharing garden produce with family and friends. She was a resident of Wilbur for 88 years before moving to Spokane seven years ago. Ellen is survived by her daughter, Irene Bonner of Spokane; two step-daughters and their husbands, Darlene and Dan Portch of Wilbur and Marla and Larry Gorsuch of the Tri-Cities; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jim and Terry Bonner, Linda and Grant Dixon, and Gayle and Jay Gender, all of Spokane and Becky and Mike Buergel of Tekoa; 5 step grandchildren and their spouses, Matt and Linda Portch of Hurst, Texas, Jody and Dick Howard of Davenport, Danice and Dwayne Deckard of Spokane, Jay and Abbie Schreiber of Indiana, and Wayne and Wendy Schreiber of Connell, WA. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two sisters, and one brother.
