Mrs. Cosstephens, Pioneer of Jones county, dies here.

Funeral services of Mrs. J.M.Cosstephens, 72, pioneer of Jones County, who died on her birthday, Sunday morning at 4:00, in the Stamford Sanitarium, were conducted by Rev. C.R. Hooton at the St. John’s Methodist church at 3 p.m. Monday. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery at Tuxedo. Kinney Funeral home was in charge.

Mrs. Cosstephens was born in Erath county near Stephenville June 11, 1861. She moved to Jones county with her family 30 years ago and lived on a farm near Tuxedo until 1908 when she moved to Stamford. She had been active in St. John’s Methodist church of which she was a member. There were six children born and two survive. Her husband preceded her to the grave by four years.

Surviving: two daughters - Mrs. W.J. Buie of Stamford; Mrs. W.H. Peters of Pampa; six grandchildren - Mrs. Bill Braymer of Hamlin, Martell and Earline Peters, Billie Buie, Garland Cosstephens of San Bernadino, CA; Claudius Cosstephens of Hanford, CA.
