Sarah A. Collett was the youngest child of Andrew Collett and wife Phebe Booth who met and married in Greene County, TN. Sarah was born 20 Dec 1821 in Campbell Co., TN, and spent her early life there, her parents having moved to this location in 1819. In 1837 her parents migrated again, this time to Cole Co., Missouri. Here Sarah married Ali C. Smith on 6 Jun 1838 - he having been a near neighbor to the Colletts back in Campbell Co., TN. Sarah and Ali had 6 children prior to Ali's death in 1854. Sarah remarried in Cole Co. on 29 Mar 1857; her second husband was widower Jonathan Murray, a long-term family friend from Tennessee, by whom she had 2 more children in their new residence in Atchison Co., MO. In the spring of 1880 Sarah, by now widowed again, moved with her eldest child Andrew Smith to Hubbell, Thayer Co., NE, to help raise his children since he was also a widower. Sarah died in Hubbell 22 May 1893.
