Mrs. Alvie Knox, 76, of Dayton, died there yesterday. She was born June 2, 1897 in Gifford, Idaho to Allen and Nancy Mortimore. She was raised and educated in Gifford and came to Dayton at the age of 16 to work for Reed Jonas.
Feb. 7, 1920, she married Walter Knox in Lewiston. They farmed in Whetstone until his death in 1951.
She then moved into Dayton and worked at the hospital until ill health forced her to retire.
She was a member of the Schyuler Rebecca Lodge and the Christian Church of Dayton.
Survivors include a brother: Tom Mortimore of Walla Walla; a sister: Mrs. Kitty McHargue of Dayton; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the new Hubbard-Rogg Chapel in Dayton with interment in the Dayton City Cemetery.
