Anders (Sunny Wedaae) Anderson, 79, formerly of Gaastra, died Jan. 31 in Long View, Wash.
He was born Feb. 25, 1921 in Risnes, Norway, the son of the late Eric and Elsie Anderson. He came to Gaastra as an infant with his family. Following the death of his mother, he was raised by his aunt and uncle Josephine and John Wedaae. He attended the Gaastra School and graduated from the Stambaugh High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in England. It was there he met his wife Phyllis, and the couple came to the United States and were married in Gaastra. They moved to Sacramento, Calif. where he was employed at the University of California-Sacramento until his retirement. Following his wife's death he moved to Packwood.
He is survived by two daughters, Andrea (Scott) Graham and Venessa (Tom) Mizzanare; two grandchildren, Jamie and Brandy Mizzanare; a brother Elmer "Swede" of Gaastra; a step-sister Violet Johnson of Waukegan, Ill.; a very dear friend Carol Tarwater of Packwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation took place in Washington.
Burial will be in the spring in the Stambaugh Cemetery.
Langenberg Funeral Home-Stambaugh Chapel assisted the family with local arrangements.
