Elizabeth Austin Tib Fetner, age 94, of Cross Road Retirement Community, Asheboro died Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 505 Mountain Road, Asheboro with Rev. Dr. Everett Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro.Mrs. Fetner was born December 25, 1911 in Wingate, NC, the daughter of Daniel Palmer Austin and Lydia Meigs Austin. During the 1950s she was a columnist for the Greensboro Daily News and The Randolph Guide. She was former Executive Director of the Randolph County TB Association, was former Manager of Asheboro Country Club and was the first Director of Asheboro Daycare Center. Mrs. Fetner was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd and was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Fetner.She is survived by her sons, Jack Fetner and his wife Sylvia of Carolina Beach, NC; Jim Fetner of Asheboro, NC; daughter, Merrill Fetner Smith of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Catherine Fetner, Jack Fetner and his wife Deborah, Christopher Fetner and his wife Jeanne, Mark Fetner and his wife Justina and James Fetner; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Georgia Dodson of Asheboro, NC and Grace Query of Folly Beach, SC.The family will receive friends Saturday, September 9, 2006 from 7 - 9 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at the home of her son, Jim Fetner, 601 Dixon Ave., #15, Asheboro.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cross Road Retirement Community, 1302 Old Cox Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205.
