McMeekin - Thursday at sunset the angel of death visited the home of M. Ridaught and claimed his aged mother, Lucreshia Beck Ridaught, who had been a resident of these parts since before the war. She leaves two sons, John and Matt, two daughters, Mrs. L. Chambers and Miss Mary Ridaught. Interment took place at the Johnson Cemetery Friday afternoon, Rev. W. H. Green conducting the services. (Palatka News Obituary dtd Friday, 22 May 1914.)
She was 1/2 Cherokee Indian (family tradition only, not proven). She was the daughter of Wilson Beck, 1820-1889, & Elizabeth (last name not known). They had five children:
Mathew Wilson Ridaught b. Nov 15 1855, Elizabeth Ridaught Chambers b. Feb 20 1858 d. Apr 12 1929, John Ridaught b. Jan 23 1862 d. Apr 9 1925 (buried Ochwilla Cemetery), Mary Etter Ridaught Oneal b. May 27, 1864 d. Nov 23 1944, Columbus Dozier Ridaught b. Feb 17 1867 d. Dec 11, 1911
