Funeral services were held from the Ashburn Presbyterian Church this afternoon for Allen Sylbester Darnes, 81, who died at his residence in Ashburn, Tuesday. Mr. Darnes who was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James T. Darnes, had been in failing health for several years. He was a well known farmer.
Besides his wife Mrs. Sallie Havenner Darnes, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Cecil Presgraves, Falls Church; Mrs. Mary Downs, Upperville; Mrs. Dolly Dove, McLean and four sons, Arthur C. Darnes, J. Thomas Darnes, Renslar Darnes, Ashburn and Horace Darnes, Falls Church.
Services were conducted by the Rev. J.A. Hagin assisted by the Rev. O.W. Triplett. Interment was made in Union Cemetery, Leesburg.
Pallbearers were John Le Fevre, Fred Dove, R.E. Adrian, William Hay, Ernest Munday and Ernest Norman.
