He was born November 11, 1918, in Upshur County, Texas to John Thomas and Cora Jo Rash. Mr. Rash served in the U. S. Army and worked most of his life as a self-employed heavy equipment operator. In 1977, he and his wife owned and operated Rash's Café and later Rash's Tractor and Equipment. Mr. Rash was a member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Modena "Dena" Bray Rash; and son, David Rash.
Mr. Rash is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy Lynn and J.D."Buddy" Hendrix, Patricia Kay and Dana Chris Hughes, Susan Dian and Micheal Leon Melton; daughter-in-law, Debbie Rash, all of Gilmer; 12 grandchildren, Jeff Rash, Christi Rash Ingram, Mark Rash, Shane Hendrix, Jason Hendrix, Chad Hendrix, John Hughes, Jennifer Hughes Smith, James Hughes, Jeremy Hughes, Amanda Melton and Anthony Melton; 17 great-grandchildren; and one awaiting.
