Graveside services for Joe Lee Cross, 60, Davis were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 15 at Green Hill Cemetery in Davis. Interment was under the direction of Krien Funeral Home, Sulphur.
Born in Wynnewood on August 7, 1944 to George and Clara Jane (McDaniel) Cross, he died Wednesday, July 13.
A native of Davis where he graduated from high school, he began working for the Ardmore office of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol as a dispatcher at the age of 18. He worked there at night and attended college during the day, earning a Bachelor's Degree in business administration from East Central University. A few years later, he began a police officer career with the Davis Police Department. Health problems forced him to retire from the force four years ago.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Davis.
Surviving are one daughter, Melinda 'Mindy' Cross, St. Petersburg, Fla.; his former wife, Frankie (Looney) Cross; a stepdaughter, Ambry Harris, Collinsville, Texas and one sister and her husband, Georgia Mobley and, Jerry, Muskogee.
He was preceded in death by both parents; one brother, Tom Cross and two sisters, Lola Fay Gordon and Juanita Powell.
Honorary pallbearers were Darryl McCurtain, Joe Tom Ayers, Danny Cooper, Sammy Jones, Frank Chambers, Norman Shiplett and the Davis Police Department.
Buried between husband George I. Cross & son Joe Lee Cross.
