Darold Voss, age 79, of Brainerd, passed away on Sept. 11, 2009, at St. Cloud VA Hospital.
He was born on Dec. 22, 1929, in Gillet Grove, Iowa, to Alfred and Mary Voss. He served in the U.S. Air Force for six years.
Darold met and married Lois Bennett from Maine in 1952. He moved to Minnesota to work for his dad in 1952, then later moved to Brainerd where he sold mobile homes. He moved to the country where he sold mobile homes and later sold John Deere tractors and did repairs. He enjoyed fishing and going on picnics with his family. He liked to talk on the phone and visiting with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Lois, of 57 years; six children, Robert Voss, of Pequot Lakes, Diane Cochran (Voss), Illinois, John Voss, of Brainerd, Gary Voss, of Crosslake, Peter Voss, of Eden Prairie, Kendra Tscheu (Voss); one sister, Janet Altoff, of Bloomington; one brother, Earl Voss, of Alexandria.
He is predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Mary Voss.
Memorial services will be held noon on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with Pastor Jim Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley with military honors provided by Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery Honor Guard.
