In part, from the Brownwood newspaper April 6, 1939:

Mrs. W. H. Sikes died yesterday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock after an extended illness, at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. J. M. Keen on the Indian Creek road.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Jordan Springs church with Rev. L. D. Ball officiating.

She was born December 3, 1858 in Mississippi to the late William Madison Keen and Nancy Elizabeth Hopkins Keen. Her husband W.H. Sikes preceded her death 22 years ago.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Ella Walker of Fort Worth; stepdaughter, Mrs. G. C. Edwards of Indian Creek; step-son, W. L. Sikes of Sudan, Texas; granddaughter, Mrs. S. B. Shaw of Indian Creek; grandson, Allan Berry of Sanders, Arizona; and her sister, Mrs. C. C. Coffee of Albany, Texas.

Pallbearers were W. H. Simmons, T. N. Simmons, John Simmons, Fayett DeHay, Fornia Walker and Gale Edwards, Jr.

Interment was made in the Jordan Springs cemetery with Austin-Morris Funeral Home in charge.
