Gueydan: A Mass of Christian Burial for Girlie Thibodeaux, 77, will be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Gueydan, La on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Father Don Leger officiating. She passed away Tuesday morning at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley. Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Gueydan beginning on Wednesday from 10:30 AM until 9:00 PM and will resume on Thursday at 8:00 AM until the time of her services. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM. Mrs. Thibodeaux will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in Jennings following the services.
Mrs. Girlie was born in Jennings, La. to the late Don Louis and Amanda Dupre Bouley on September 16, 1932. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping, dancing, and flowers. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Dorothy Cormier and husband Terry of Gueydan; two sisters, Vidie Hamerick of Lake Charles and Yolanda Janise of Roanoke; 5 grandchildren, Randall LeDoux, Patricia Simon and her husband Garret, Kendall Thibodeaux and his wife Marcy, Scottie Thibodeaux and his wife Claire, and Jason Thibodeaux and his wife Connie; and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Otis Thibodeaux; one son, Charles Thibodeaux; and 7 siblings.
